1.0 Njord
September 20, 2026
- **This is version 1.0.** The number has been 0-point-something since the beginning, and that was deliberate: the board was being built in a working shop and the shop was being asked for opinions. Enough of those have been answered. Nothing about how you use the board changes with this release -- the number just stopped saying "not finished yet". This release is called Njord; the last one was Heimdall.
- **The licence agreement is now part of installing.** When you run the installer it shows the agreement and asks you to accept it before it carries on, the way most Windows programs do. It is the same agreement that has always been on the website, and it stays there to read again whenever you like. Nothing else about installing changed, and an update started from inside the board still installs quietly in the background.
- **A demo can buy a key without going looking for one.** When the board is running as the demo, the gold band across the top now carries a "Buy your key" link. It opens the website in your normal browser, on the page where you choose what you want and tick that you agree to the terms. It only ever shows on a demo: once your key is in, the band and the link are both gone.
- **The update box and the key email both name the agreement.** When you press Update now, the board says in one line that updating means you accept the current licence agreement, and links to it. The email that carries a new key says the same thing, and links to the refund policy beside it. Neither changes what anything does -- they just say what you are agreeing to instead of assuming you already know.

- **Hours off on the tech card can now be cleared or changed, and it sticks.** On Tech Hours, "Produced against capacity", the "h off" box beside each person shows all their time off in the weeks on screen. Before, deleting that number or typing a smaller one did not stick: it came back on the next refresh, because time off from an earlier week on screen could not be taken away from that box. Now the number you type replaces the total for the weeks on screen. Empty or 0 means no time off in those weeks. A new number is kept as one entry in the current week. The Scheduler shows the same change. Weeks that are not on screen are not touched.
- The box no longer loses what you are typing if the board refreshes while you type.
- Letters or a minus number in the box are now refused right there, with a red outline and a short note, and nothing is saved. Before, a minus number quietly emptied the box without saving anything.

- **"This week only" on the production board.** A tick box on the filter row, next to the search and the stage and tech filters. With it on, the board hides the cars the Scheduler has booked for a **later** week. Anything booked this week, anything booked an earlier week, and anything not booked at all stays on the board — those cars are in the shop now. It is a filter like the others: it is not saved, nobody else's board changes, and a printed board says "this week only" at the top so the paper tells you what it left off. Clicking a car anywhere on the Overview clears it, so you always land on the car you clicked.
- **"Weeks to show on the Overview floor and TV board."** In Settings, on "The production board" card. Leave it on **All weeks** and nothing changes. Pick 1 to 8 and the floor on the Overview — and the TV board in the waiting room, which is the same picture — shows only the cars booked up to that many weeks out. Same rule as above: this week, earlier weeks, and cars with no booking always show; the number only decides how far ahead to look. The count line above the floor says how many cars are booked further out, so it always matches the rows under it. It takes effect on the next refresh — no restart.
- **"Use the one on the shelf", on the production board.** When a part line on a job card says you already have that part, there is now a button on the line to use it — you no longer have to go to the Parts tab, find the part and pick the car off a list. It does exactly what the Parts tab does: the part comes off the parts list, lands on that job, and the line ticks itself off with today's date, because the part is in the building. It asks twice and the second press names the part, so a brush past a card cannot move anything. On a "verify" or "possible" match it also shows what the part on the shelf actually is, because those are maybes.
- **"Put it back."** A part that came off the shelf now has a way back. Wrong car, did not fit, the job is gone — press it, confirm the shelf it is going back to, and the part is on the parts list again exactly as it was, shelf location and all, with the tick taken off the job. Taking a part off the list used to be one-way: the part was still sitting on the shelf and the only way to say so was to type the whole thing in again.
- **A part put on a car stopped saying "IN INVENTORY".** After moving a part onto a job, the other cards kept showing the green "check shelf first" badge for it until the board was restarted — sending somebody to look for a part that was already bolted to a car.

- **If you installed 0.1.9.3 and Minuteman would not open, this fixes it.** 0.1.9.3 shipped with a broken start-up file: opening Minuteman showed a "Windows Script Host" error box instead of the board, and nothing else happened. Install this version over the top and Minuteman opens normally again. Nothing in your data, settings or licence was touched by it.
- Tech Hours, "Produced against capacity": when there is more than one week on screen, each person's filled bar is now split into one piece per week, in order, sized by the hours they turned in that week. A thin line marks where one week ends and the next starts, every other week sits a shade lighter, and the dates of the weeks are printed at the top of the card. Hovering a piece names the week and its hours. A card with a single week on screen looks exactly as it did.
- The production board's "Labor load by tech" strip: the Unassigned card no longer draws a bar under its number. A bar there compared a pile of work that has nobody's name on it against a person, which is not a comparison. The hours and the job count on that card are unchanged.
- The same strip: the technicians' bars are now measured against the busiest technician only. Before, a big stack of unassigned work counted as the longest bar on the strip, so on a day with a lot of work still to hand out, every technician's bar shrank and the whole shop looked idle.
- Opening Minuteman now checks that the program answering is really Minuteman before it opens a window. If another program on the computer is using Minuteman's port (8770), you get a plain message saying so instead of a window showing somebody else's program.
- Only one copy of Minuteman can run at a time now. Before, a copy left over from an earlier sign-in could keep running alongside a newer one, and you could end up looking at the old one.
- If the Minuteman that is running is older than the one installed, you are told. Opening Minuteman asks whether to restart it, and the board shows a red band across every tab until it is restarted.
- Updating Minuteman, or restarting it from its own folder, now stops only Minuteman. It no longer stops another program that happens to be using the same port.
- The log file is back where support asks for it: %LOCALAPPDATA%\Minuteman\logs\minuteman.log. Every start now writes the version and the licence tier on its first line.

Two weeks that looked like one steady fortnight now show plainly as a strong week and a quiet one.

- If the Minuteman that is running is older than the one installed, you are told. Opening Minuteman asks whether to restart it, and the board shows a red band across every tab until it is restarted. This is the case that looks like "the update put my board back to the old version."
- Updating Minuteman, or restarting it from its own folder, now stops only Minuteman. It no longer stops another program that happens to be using the same port.
- The log file is back where support asks for it: %LOCALAPPDATA%\Minuteman\logs\minuteman.log. Since 0.1.6.1 it had been written to a different folder on many computers, so the one support asks for was out of date. Every start now writes the version and the licence tier on its first line.

- While an update installs, the Updates card now shows what is new in the version on its way, right under the progress bar -- so the wait reads as news, not a spinner. When anything goes wrong, the card says so in one plain sentence ("Couldn't download the update -- check the internet and press Update now again") and nothing else: no file names, no checksums, nothing to look up.
- The support page has its download button back, at the top. Every board before 0.1.9.0 has a banner that lands there, and the page had nothing to press; now it has the current installer, one click. The instruction to check a file's hash by hand is gone -- the board checks every update itself.
- The announcement email tells you the whole procedure in one line: open the board and press Update now in the gold banner.
- Technicians now default to Monday-Friday; Saturday is only counted if you tick it.
- Settings saves exactly the days you ticked and shows them back after a restart.
- The Tech Hours capacity card now counts full weeks (hours/week x weeks on screen, minus closed days and time off), and the "h off" box shows the stored time off.
- On the Scheduler's summary strip, a shop with no weekly goal no longer has the week chart drawn under the pipeline box, and the red "with no $ total" line is its own line.

- Updating is one button now. When a new version is out, the gold banner at the top of the board says "Update now"; so does the Updates card in Settings. Press it and the board downloads the new version, checks that it is the right size, matches the published checksum and is signed by Minuteman Systems LLC, installs it, and comes back on its own. Nothing to download, no file to find, no second program to run. Your jobs, settings, history and licence are not touched.
- "Check now" on the same card asks the site for the current version whenever you like. Both buttons work whether the once-a-day check is on or off; the switch only governs what the board does by itself.
- "What's new" on the banner opens the list of changes for the new version.
- A new Maintenance card in Settings has "Restart the board" and "Reset the board window". They do what the two Start menu shortcuts did, from inside the board, and the page comes back on its own. The two shortcuts are gone from the Start menu; the Start menu folder is now the app, the data folder, the demo exports and Uninstall.
- If an update cannot be done from the button -- no internet at the shop PC, for instance -- the manual way still works and is written up in docs\UPDATING.md in the program folder.

- The job checklist is yours now. Settings → Job checklist: tick an item to show it on every card, untick it to hide it, use the arrows to change the order, rename anything, add what your shop argues about on a Monday. A hidden item keeps every tick it ever had and brings them back when it is turned on again. "Delivered" stays on every card, always last — it cannot be renamed, hidden or removed.
- The "Produced against capacity" card on Tech Hours reads at a glance now. The length of each technician's bar is their capacity for the weeks on screen; the fill is the hours they produced; a bar that would overflow turns gold and gets a trophy. That is the whole card. The green / red colouring, the percentages and the paragraph under it are gone.
- Each technician's row on that card has one box: hours off this week. A half day is 4, a holiday is 8. It shortens the bar and the number beside it, and the Scheduler sees exactly the same time off -- it is one record, shown two ways. A day the shop is closed already comes off the bar.
- The wall of text under "Earlier months" on Tech Hours is gone. The only thing left there is the hours credited to nobody, as one figure -- and when every car has a technician, nothing at all.
- A TV board for the waiting room. Overview → The floor → "Open TV board" opens a new window you can drag to a second screen or a television: the floor, each car, the stage it is in, and the technician's name where there is one. No money, no flags, no warnings, no settings -- one button, for fullscreen. It updates itself as cars move. With "Open the board to other computers" on, a TV stick on the shop's network can open it directly at /tv, and it can only look, never change anything.
- Import from a PDF: the Done button now closes the dialog every time, including on the second and later imports. Before, only the × closed it.
- Import from a PDF: after Accept, the message no longer says "worth a look before this job goes on the board" about a job that is already on it. When the line items and the totals block disagree it now says, past tense, that the totals block was used and that the card is flagged for review -- and the card really is flagged, whatever the review screen showed.
- Dropping a file that is not a PDF anywhere on the board no longer makes the browser open that file in place of the board. A PDF dropped anywhere opens the import; anything else shows a short note and the board stays put.

- A licence key now unlocks your board; without one the program runs as a demo on sample estimates. Your key is emailed when you buy — paste it in Settings, restart once, and the board opens on your own shop.
- Your shop's name and licence number now appear in the board's header, on every printed schedule and in every export, so there is never a question of whose board a printout came from.
- Your key covers two computers — the office PC and a spare — and it lives in your data folder, so updates never ask for it again.
- 873 automated tests behind this build, all passing.

- Optional LAN access: a switch in Settings, off by default, lets other machines on the shop’s wifi — a booth tablet, the front desk — open the board, and the card shows the exact address to type.
- Even with LAN on, the estimate-folder controls stay on the shop PC only.
- A “Back up now” button in Settings, with the result written under it and the last five backups listed.
- Two short pages ship beside the program: how to update, and a first-day setup checklist.

- Setup asks for each technician’s hours a week and who paints, so the Scheduler has capacity to work with from day one.
- Settings says less — the reasoning now lives in a tooltip on each control.
- Print the Production Board and the Fast Lane comes out as its own section, each car once.
- It opens in its own window rather than a browser tab.

- The Scheduler plans from your estimates: every unfinished job sits in the tray, and booking one into a week is what puts it on the board.
- The Scheduler header reads Capacity, with Scheduled Gross Month To Date, Next Month Scheduled, and week-by-week capacity against scheduled.
- “Mark every part complete” works.
- Nothing in the install carries anybody else’s name or details, and a test fails the build if one ever creeps back.
